Nirjumoni Dutta Bharali

With 29 years of experience in the development sector, she has managed national and international projects in collaboration with prominent organizations such as UNICEF, EdCIL India, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), GIZ, IDH, UNDP, APF, ONGC, ASRLM, and more. Her expertise includes handling Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects. She worked for over 17 years with the Assam Mahila Samata Society (AMSS), apart of the National Mahila Samakhya program of the Government of India as a full-time state consultant, and later as Assistant State Program Director for six years. She then spent nine years with the ICCo group, where she held the position of Director of Programmes.Additionally, she serves as a consultant to a portfolio of Human Resource Development Specialists under the JICA-supported Assam Health System Strengthening Project. Her focus has been on grassroots-level empowerment of rural marginalized women, life skills education for adolescents, child rights and protection, gender issues, and livelihood promotion. She has significant experience in institution building, thrift and credit programs, proposal development, entrepreneurship development, and policy influencing.One of her key initiatives, the Data Exhibition under the Mahila Samakhya programme, was instrumental in developing the Gram Panchayat Plan with the involvement of neo-literate women. This initiative was recognized by the National Mission for Empowerment of Women and replicated in other states. While at ICCo group, she worked closely with small farmers, helping both men and women to establish responsible social enterprises. She played a crucial role at ICCo group in transforming from a donor organization to an implementing organization through her long-term implementation experience.She holds a postgraduate degree in Sociology from Dibrugarh University, along with Postgraduate Diplomas in Human Resource Management, Social Welfare & Labour Welfare, and Business Management. Her initiative on Food and Nutrition Security at ICCo received the Innovation Challenge Award from the UN World Food Program in 2018. She serves as a member of the state women's policy development committee, a member of the gender committee of NEP, and a member of the state PC PNDT committee of the State Health Department in the state of Assam.
